Natasha McNulty—Head of Department, Curriculum

Hello, my name is Natasha McNulty, and I am incredibly proud and excited to be the Foundation Head of Department – Curriculum at Leichhardt Special School!

I am thrilled to be part of this exciting journey, working alongside our students, families, staff and wider community to build a welcoming, inclusive and supportive school where students are at the heart of everything we do.

I have over 18 years of experience working in both mainstream and special education settings, bringing a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm and a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.

I strongly believe that learning should be meaningful, engaging and accessible to every student. I am particularly passionate about creating hands-on, play-based learning opportunities, alongside explicit teaching, that encourage students to explore, discover, communicate and develop their skills across a variety of learning environments. I believe every space can be a learning space, and every student deserves opportunities to experience success in their own unique way.

I am a strong advocate for ensuring every student has a voice and feels heard, valued, understood and empowered to make choices, actively participate in their learning and develop the skills to become a lifelong learner.

Building positive, trusting relationships with students, families and the wider community is something I value deeply. I believe that strong, respectful, two-way partnerships with families are essential in creating a positive school culture where everyone feels welcomed, supported and valued. Working together, sharing knowledge and celebrating successes are at the heart of building a strong and connected school community.

I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to help shape the foundations of Leichhardt Special School and work collaboratively to create a school community where every student belongs, every achievement is celebrated and every child is supported to reach their full potential.
