Welcome to our new primary special school.
The opportunity to establish a new school is both rare and incredibly exciting. As Foundation Principal, I am honoured to lead the development of a school that has been designed specifically to meet the needs of young learners and their families from the very beginning.
Having served as a principal within the Ipswich community for more than 10 years, I have had the privilege of working alongside students, families, educators and community partners to create learning environments where every child is supported to achieve success. Those experiences have reinforced my belief that the strongest schools are built on genuine relationships, high expectations and a deep understanding of the unique strengths of every learner.
Our school will provide a specialised and nurturing educational setting where students are empowered to develop confidence, independence and a lifelong love of learning. We are committed to creating engaging learning experiences that recognise individual strengths, celebrate progress and support every student to reach their personal potential.
Being co-located with Leichhardt State School presents an exciting opportunity to foster a connected educational community. Through collaboration, shared experiences and inclusive practices, we will work together to create opportunities that enhance learning, participation and belonging for all students.
As we establish our school, we are committed to listening to and learning from our community. The voices of students, families, staff and community members will help shape our culture, identity and future direction. Together, we will create a school that reflects the aspirations of those it serves and provides a strong foundation for generations of students to come.
We acknowledge the Yuggera, Jagera and Ugarapul peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our school community stands. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and recognise the enduring connections of First Nations peoples to Country, culture and community.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about our school. I look forward to welcoming you and working in partnership to create a vibrant, inclusive and successful school community.
Warm regards,
Renae Somerville
